Tailor-Made Heat Maps for Caribbean Island States – A Climate Resilience Tool for Enhanced Decision-Making
Leads: Oriana Wouters, Muskaan Khemani
Timeline: October 2024 - December 2025
Description: The project is funded by the UNESCO National Commission (NC) of Aruba, in collaboration with the UNESCO NC of Curaçao, UNESCO NC of Jamaica, and UNESCO NC of St. Maarten. The project will implement satellite-based mapping for climate heat maps in four Caribbean small island states: Aruba, Curaçao, St. Maarten, and Jamaica. Heat has known impacts on public health, energy usage, infrastructure, education, ecosystem chains, and the tourism economy. By enhancing the spatial understanding of heat impact, this project aims to empower stakeholders and citizens in developing targeted strategies for climate resilience.
