  • SIDS4: Small Island Developing States Conference | St. John's, Antigua & Barbuda | May, 2024

    Attended SIDS4 as a representative for the non-governmental organization Friends of the Earth Curaçao (Amigu di Tera).

    Highlights:

    • Panelist for “Amplifying action in the call for climate justice: An inclusive approach for meaningful Change”

    • Interfaced with high-level representatives (including the PM of Aruba, PM of Curaçao, and the Minister of Economic Development of Curaçao) from the Dutch Caribbean in the two side events: 1) Catalysing Climate Finance Flows for Overseas Territories and 2) Small Islands Leading the Energy Transition: Roadmaps to 100% Renewables.

    • Sole civil society representative from the island of Curaçao at SIDS4, and advocated for a just and equitable green transition for our islands, health prioritization in climate policies, and strengthened Caribbean regional cooperation.

  • COP28: 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference | Dubai, UAE | Nov-Dec, 2023

    Attended COP28 as part of the inaugural cohort of the Caribbean Climate Justice Leaders Academy Youth Delegation, as a youth from Curaçao.

    Highlights:

    • Invited to a youth climate dinner and with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of Curaçao Gilmar Pisas, and Dutch Climate Envoy Royal Highness Prince Jaime of Bourbon-Parma to provide views on loss and damage, fossil-fuel phase out, and global inequality.

    • Panelist for “Exploring other modalities to accelerate climate action for SIDS” at the Benelux pavilion, providing ideas to Prime Minister of Curaçao Gilmar Pisas and Dutch Climate Envoy of the Netherlands HRH Jaime de Bourbon de Parma.

    • Panelist at the Island of Hope sharing experiences and lessons learned being part of the Inaugural climate justice camp.

  • International Society of Exposure Science: Connecting Communities & Science through Addressing Environmental Exposures | Chicago, USA | Aug, 2023

    Delivered an oral presentation on “Research to Action: Using Data Dashboards to Communicate Environmental Exposures” to discuss fit-for-purpose data dashboard creation and dissemination.

  • Caribbean Regional Writeshop for Submissions to the International Court of Justice Climate Change Advisory Opinion | St. Georges, Grenada | Feb, 2024

    Provided expertise on climate change and health, science informing policy, and intergenerational equity across two panels, attended by 25 individuals each, to enhance awareness of the ICJ Advisory Opinion on climate change, with a particular focus on government legal representatives of twelve CARICOM Caribbean countries.

  • Google Earth Engine (GEE) Workshop for Public Health Research | Boston, USA | Jan, 2024

    Led a 2-hour focused workshop on Google Earth Engine (GEE), specifically tailored for public health researchers, for students, staff, and affiliates. The training covered essential topics including the availability of datasets, account registration, user interface navigation, and an example involving NDVI processing, and open Q&A time.
